Thats two games abandoned in this league now, one rightly one wrongly going by what most are saying. Will they be refixed or voided? Enough pressure to get fixtures completed already....

I would say they will void them, the St Paul's result went in as 0-0. There will probably be appeals etc. If this is going to be the case then there is no clear deterrent for a team that is losing starting a row to get the game abandoned on purpose.

It would make most sense to void the game. Clear deterrent because both teams get zero points. Could have effects this year esp with the shortened campaign!

Doesn’t really make sense. As the guy said what’s to stop a team from losing starting a row to get the game abandoned? Let’s say it was the last game. Team third from bottom are a point ahead of the team second form bottom. Team second bottom are winning by a load so are gonna stay up wheeler the team third from bottom are now gonna go down. What’s to stop them starting a row to have thee game abandoned and then they stay up?

Yes very valid point. Can you see any alternatives to voiding the match esp with the calendar as tight as it is? I think there is maybe one week set aside for refixtures.

Surely there must be an onus on the refs to clearly identify why the game was abandoned. The decision should then be made based on this. Still none the wiser about Sundays game. If it was because of foul and abusive language then he must first use cards before abandoning the game. It would be hard to make a case for abusive language without a card trail.

That makes zero sense. Why should the clans lose out because of weak refereeing and Shane O’Neill not keeping their discipline???

The referee seems to be getting a lot of stick for blowing up the game early on Sunday. Surely more attention has to be on the players involved in the incident. Whatever was said must have been well below the belt for the ref to walk off. The games abandoned should also be voided with zero points awarded. If the players can't get on with the game and the ref feels the need to walk off, they should reap what they sow.

Surely a slagging match isn’t grounds to walk off. And apparently was nearly all handbags, surely nothing to huff and go home over. Only going off hearsay so open to correction.

Obviously we don't know what has been said but if a ref feels the need to walk off the pitch it must have been serious. A lot of people on the thread above are givng the ref some abuse without knowing what occured. I don't see any benefit from the refs point of view for not finishing the game. I'm sure the relevant bodies will be investigating further.

Did the ref walk off because something was said to him or because of the pushing and shoving?

I was at the game, as a neutral, and it looked to me that something was said. Speaking to others who were closer this seems to be the case. There's not a chance the game was abandoned for the pushing that went on. Anyway roll on the championship game, hopefully both teams can redeem themselves and give us a good game.

Have to agree with this
Especially at the minute we have to trust the referees in these instances
If the ref thinks that he has to walk off then he needs to be backed. This isn’t ever an issue usualy

Was at the game on Sunday and was fairly close to the incident and could hear all the slagging that took place, events started with Shane’s midfielder niggling (squeezing his hole)at clans no14, resulting in the no14 to say a few inappropriate comments, which was fallowed by the Shane’s management team getting involvement, this caused the handbag session in the middle of the park, clans physio also received unwarranted pushing while attending no 14, ref stood a good 20 yards away from the handbags then called the game, both sides at fault but still didn’t warrant the game to be abandoned
