I agree with much if this but in relation to your underage comment go games are used throughout Ireland so they are unlikely to skew things against Armagh. They are also combined with blitz tournaments were group stages divide teams into their level - cup, shield and plate for example - so that the children find their competitive level . We also have to be aware that we are developing people in the GAA and not just players. Leaving the same children standing on the sideline is wrong in my opinion. It can create issues with the child and loses them and family and friends to the club. It is also against the ethos of the GAA and is not considered best practice on child safeguarding matters.

On saying that as big an issue is clubs playing a lower division so they can win something. That doesnt challenge players which I totally agree is essential in development. On the other side there is no use playing them in a division that is too high for most of the players as they will just lose competitive instinct.
Ah here listen, I'm 100% with ye on that about the kids and absolutely didn't mean it was skewing things in anyone's favour. I just was agreeing that taking out the competitiveness might not be the answer. It worked for decades and kept kids interested. I just think they're exposed to being competitive from an early age with their Xboxes and playstation etc. and they really should be encouraged to be outdoors. Letting any child though, for whatever reason, feel left out, lesser or undervalued is an absolute no no! I don't have a good solution by the way. Wish I did. I'd be worth a fortune!

Rte reporting that division 1 will be split into 2 groups of four based on geographic location. So likely we will face Donegal, Tyrone, Monaghan. Bottom 2 play off for relegation after round robin.

Heard that. Very disappointing for everyone involved. Don't see why they can't wait another few weeks, as the vaccination programme makes progress restrictions should become looser, and run it off as normal. Looks like big matches against the Dubs and Kerry aren't going to happen.

Yea I was reading that and very perplexed . Obviously they will still be behind closed doors and I don’t see why they could not run off the league as normal especially since the McKenna cup appears to be normal . Also it says the bottom 2 teams in each group will play off for relegation so that’s an extra match .

Relegation in football could see the bottom two teams in each round-robin group playing off against each other to decide which two teams go down.

The 2021 Tailteann Cup will then feature teams placed in those bottom two tiers.

No super 8 next year either so assuming straight 1/4 final knockout onwards .

Looks like the Oxford vaccine needs more investigation due to anamolys with their results

No McKenna Cup in 2021

So the four Ulster teams together. Dub, Rosc, Gal, Ker together.

Roscommon to Kerry is still a quare distance. Kerry would travel further to Roscommon than they would if they met us in Portlaoise as a neutral venue.

No reason why we couldn’t play all our games halfway if needed. There’ll probably be no fans anyway so counties won’t be losing out with gate receipts.

Its a bit of a dire situation alright. But could it suit us? Likely we will be in a relegation play off against Monaghan. The last time we completed a division 1 schedule and managed to stay up it was by beating monaghan in the atheltic grounds with a brian mallon injury time toe polked goal in a dire game. Relegated the following season. Might allow us 4 games against stronger opposition but with a realistic shot at staying up by beating Monaghan in a playoff.

Brian Mallon got a late goal alright. His brother Andy got the winner late on.

We won by a point, and we stayed up at Monaghan’s expense, even though they had a better +/- scoring difference than us.
