The statement is vague. The wording of step back to me suggests he may still be operating in the background.

It may be that he just won't present on sidelines during matches. Is he still involved in training sessions, team preparation, etc. Is unclear

However if he is still involved in a background role and media gets wind of it would be a PR disaster for the Derry county board
It has already been a PR disaster for them.
I don’t think it makes a difference. As someone said, their prep has been done. Tactics sorted. They know what they have to do

It was on the cards, His position was untenable really.
You would have to imagine Derry have their work done at this stage. Where might be a miss is on the line e.g tactical switches
On the other hand it could be a motivating factor for the Derry players. Hard to call really

In general terms, good to see that he will not be on the line in Clones. Must be a distraction for the Derry players.

Won't make much difference to the match - we still have to go out and win it !!

Impossible to know. But guess we will find out on Sunday.

With or without Gallagher have always felt we are capable of getting at Derry. I might be in the minority but still not convinced by this Derry team.

Right there with you, apart from beating Donegal after extra time in the Ulster Final last year (whom we then hammered) who have they beaten of note? They got trounced by Galway twice last year, hammered by the Dubs in the Division 2 final this year, FERMANAGH put 2 goals past them as did Monaghan who basically didn't turn up for their match. I think they're a good team & very well organised but I do think they're overhyped & beatable, mind you I'd love it if they thought they just have to turn up on Sunday to get the win, they could be in for a shock. I think next year in Division 1 will show how good they really are, personally I wouldn't mind if they go down & we go back up :D
If our boys play to their full potential on Sunday we have every chance of lifting the Anglo Celt, however I would also like all the 50/50 decisions to go our way & that we get the rub of the green (which I think we deserve, it's been a while).

Problem is if the derry squad are buying what Gallagher is selling, in terms of him and the children are the victims of this horrible woman (which i dont believe for a second) then it could really galvanise the squad going into the final. Also if you think Gallagher wont be on an earpeice to someone calling the shots then you must have come up newry canal in a bubble.

Ah look I don’t think we can speak for the Derry lads or what they’re thinking about this.

Absolutely think he’ll be on the mic.

That might be your only way up the canal, because you certainly won’t get up it in a boat!

But I don’t think we can make any assumptions as to what Derry players think or what RG has said to them on the issue, if anything. The Derry players are caught in the middle here. It remains to be seen how all this will affect their preparations and performance.

Speaking of unsubstantiated stories. I heard from a very reliable source that @PatMustard was on the devil's juice last night and ventured into midgetland.

It is from there where he fell into Company with a certain Mr Mulligan and Mr Canavan. Long story short he is off on a 3 day fishing trip this weekend and has joined club Tyrone :eek:

Lads and lassies, I bought a ticket for Sunday without realising it’s also my wedding day! Does anyone want to go in my place?
It’s in St Malachy’s in Armagh followed by a lovely reception in the Carrickdale. The brides’ name is Michelle and she is absolutely gorgeous.
Post of the thread for me
