As most have noted today was mostly about getting the result. Well done to all. In particular, I'm delighted for blaine Hughes.

Rian won't be that quiet again but still kicked a few wonderful frees. The free kick count is a worry - Derry scored 10 points from frees to our 5. Comiskey give away 2 soft frees when he came on.

Although donegal are a superior team to tyrone I'm happier playing them than tyrone. We ran them to a point in the league in ballybofey last year and beat them in the McKenna cap. Not as a big of a psychological challenge.

Cavanagh on TSG was very begrudging in his comments about Armagh
Apart from that, he must be the worst and most boring 'pundit/analyst' on tv.
And Oisin is probably the best!
After the comment his brother in law made on Thursday evening on the Armagh tv show, it's no wonder he wanted a chance to reply. He's just a sad person, but some of his points are good - well maybe if I actually listened to him I might find out :D

Today's game was all about winning, which we did and for the most part did by playing well. We kicked some great scores, we worked our way through the blanket defence well, we were patient, the defence didn't make too many rash challenges that I remember and we had some stand out performances all over the field. We haven't had a good record in Ulster so any win is a good one. Yes we let Derry back into the game, but every team has a purple patch and they hit some impressive scores in that time. We did well to respond and finish the game out. Donegal are going to be another step up and have top players all over the field which will cause us serious problems. We've achieved promotion and we've won an Ulster Championship game on the road, so this team should go into this game with confidence and know they can cause an upset.

Yea, but on the contrary Pat was very complimentary. You can fair tell the difference in a pundit that has done his research and one who is living off his name. Spillane is forensic in his analysis whilst Cavanagh knows bugger all about anyone other than the big teams. (Granted Pat is retired whilst your man is only retired from diving)

Like last week, most of what I think has been covered - I assume! Sorry guys not reading 6 pages.

So in summary, my opinion; Yeahhhh we won. Nope it was far from pretty. Yes it is November. No we don't seem to have improved discipline. Yes we made some daft shot choices. No we don't seem to be learning about tackling, but let's be fair, those weather conditions were brutal. Yeah yeah I get it. Same for both teams, but give credit, our scores WITH the wind were thankfully much better than theirs and they came out, in the second half with nothing to lose at 6 points down and threw everything at us, knowing it's our Achilles heel. BUT we held on in a dog fight, down to 14 for 10 minutes and managed vital scores when it really mattered. Scoring 17 points/scores in those conditions is due some credit, with fewer frees than Derry.

With the semi-final game set for Saturday 14th November at 1.15pm (sorry but that's a crap time on a Saturday) and due to be shown on Sky something, not only will I miss getting to the damn thing, I'll also miss it live on the tele box because I'll be working. Tauld ye it was a crap time on a Saturday.
