Have to remember that we really put Monaghan to the sword in the Championship last year and should have overcome Mayo so are capable of mixing it with Donegal. A complete performance like against Monaghan, although the style may differ, will have us in dreamland again. A huge task lies ahead but we have the quality to compete and just need to protect our back line and live with Donegal for a time, taking goal chances that come our way.

First half against Derry we had everything - the big thing for me in that game was our patience. We didn't go into it attacking from every opportunity. We sat back, waited for the spaces to open, controlled the tempo of the game and played intelligently. We knew what Derry were going to do especially with Rory Gallagher and the tactic worked. Second half they had to attack us at 6 points down and while that style usually matches us I think it took us by surprise. The Donegal match is a huge step up for us, the closest game we have played to Donegal this season is Roscommon and we should be mindful of what went wrong in that game - even though training was hampered because of COVID-19.

I expect the game to be open for the first half and very little will be between the sides. Their defence will start upping the intensity on our forwards and not give them space to breathe. Our backline will be put under a lot of pressure. We cannot afford to go missing for 25 minutes with no scores. I think on Sunday we were scoring a point every 2.5 minutes bar the 20 odd minutes we didn't score.

The expectation is off the team for sure, few people will give them a chance against Donegal but this team needs to click and put in a 70+ minute game and I would rather it happened sooner rather than later. It isn't a free shot at Donegal either, both teams earned their places and if Armagh want to make it to the final then we need to be at peak.

This Armagh team is different from the one against Monaghan plus that Monaghan team were done

A lot of comments on getting Donaghy fit for Donegal. I have it on good authority he is fit and has been available for selection since after the lockdown. He is simply out of favour. Maybe he has slowed down a bit (understandable at his age and injuries catching up) and geezer wants more speed, I am not sure..... but for what its worth I would start him to man mark murphy next weekend.

I would expect Mcgeeney to put Forker on Murphy.

Listened to the first few minutes and I am not too sure on division 1 promotion and an Ulster win being successful. League promotion is great and we are going to be playing against big teams. However, we beat a division one team last year (Monaghan) and lost by a single point to Mayo. This isn't bonus territory, we should be going to Donegal and aiming to win and not just to make up the numbers. Our promotion to league one just reinforces the idea we are on the same level as Donegal and should be going there to win.

You could be right. I'd say Murphy will eat Forker in the air, but not in terms of athleticism. He would eat Donaghy when it comes to athleticism but not in the air. Donaghy would only be a potential option if Murphy played at 11 or 14 and stayed there, but of course he won't. He will need to be followed all over the place....Kennedy might be an option in that case.

Would young O'Neill be capable of pacing Murphy? He seems well able to take the ball out of defence and another not afraid to have a go, but would Murphy's obvious strength and power be too much for an inexperienced lad or would he relish the challenge? Michael is a big lad. but for the most part fair and strong. Yes he is a cry baby to the ref, but look at how many players "go down so easy!"

On a separate note, it makes you wonder how so many players today, like soccer players, can get tattoos when a player running past them and creating a breeze is so painful that they go down as if they were shot.

Jesus, that will go done well in kilcoo!

He was supposed to take them before when he was in his last year with Kilcoo....apparently they went full Don Corleone and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse!

Must be serious dough on offer. Kilcoo folk held him in very high regard (until now!). I'd imagine he'll be a serious loss to the armagh back room set up.

O'Neill would have the pace, fitness, athleticism for it, but a bit like Forker would struggle in the air against Murphy

Yeah kinda guessed that might be the case. I suppose best option then could be to have him picking up breaking ball with a bigger lad contesting with Murphy and dropping the ball to him. I'd love to see him emerge as the next big thing we have to look up to. Been impressed with his fearless attitude so far. Seems to have fitted in real well so far. Is he a natural defender or played into that position? Only reason I ask is he looks comfortable tracking and running forward.
