The tackling today was at the highest level from both teams today - dispossessing players in possession was of the highest order
Shot selection was at times poor from both teams
Kerry have a problem when Clifford is being held. They can't get enough scores from their other forwards
Dublin's forward line didn't function as well as they should given what they have available

The ref should have had at least two players sent off today - McCarthy and Costello.
He made the right calls but the two yellows handed to Clifford and Fitzsimmons was strange - thought just Clifford deserved it

The weather may have played it's part but overall it was an intriguing game with the better team finally winning it

Fair play to Fitzsimmons, McCarthy and cluxton on getting their 9th AI medal
Great incentive to the three of them to go again for ten

Just doesn't feel right finishing the season now

I think we will see McCarthy, Fitzsimmons, Cluxton and Rock retiring - and maybe John Small, McCaffrey and Mannion to step away as well. Either way that was the last hurrah from that Dublin team and they will be much changed next year.
As for Kerry- shows that if Clifford is 'held' and does not shoot the lights out, then they are not great.

The above must give encouragement to the other 'top' teams foe next year.

Can’t see any reason for any one of those players retiring… cluxton especially was outstanding today 2 pts and don’t think he missed a kickout

Where was the team when he took over? Are you saying they were in a bad place worse than now? How long do you give him?

He has taken them from division 3 to division 1, shed a lot of players and developed more than that to significant levels above the playing group he inherited. Their first rattle at division 1 last year surprised everyone and an all ireland quarter final was promising.

This year they didn't push on but it feels like a lot of people have been waiting on a plateau year to boot the manager. It's one year at a time in this game and he certainly deserves one more with a team he built from scratch and the opportunity that 2022 was a far better indication of their trajectory than 2023.

Could be wrong but where armagh not beat by donegal in an all irleand 1/4 the year before he took over?

In that time its taken 8 years to be back in another one.

I can see both side of the argument but will say this if one or two men leave his back room team does he get to pick who he wants or would the county board have a say?

We were in the All Ireland QF in 2017.

The County Committee of @sligogaa this evening confirmed Tony McEntee will be continuing as senior football manager for 2024. @ConnachtGAA U20 championship winning manager Paul Henry will again be at the helm in 2024 and has agreed an option for 2025 sligogaa.ie/ArticleDetail.…

We are in division 2 now, not division 1. Moreover, we are in division 2 because of his very poor tactics.

He did not build a team, he picked a team.

Every person who wants him to leave has not always been anti McGeeney as you imply. I supported him until until recently but there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough.

I have never seen as much negativity within the Armagh support base for quite some time and it is from frustration with our tactics and lack of ability on the line.

In no way am I comparing the two but Dublin, the almighty conquering six in a row, beaten in two AI semifinals and relegated by Monaghan to division 2 didn't make changes. It was very, very tough for them but they stuck together.

As for all this so called negativity yes we're all disappointed in not beating Monaghan but this concept of swashbuckling football does not exist.

Mayo changed management - good league and then the rails came off v Monaghan in the league and basically fell apart after that.

Galway seem to be doing a Mayo at present

I don't think it's time for a change

The challenge next year is to get promoted
After that at least an AI QF - not worried about Ulster.

It doesn't have to be swashbuckling but it also doesn't have to be the black death either. Look at the second half of the Galway game, surely that template would be what most would like to see. A very major part of the frustration with many is that we had the blueprint and people thought surely this is what we will do in the Monaghan game but in the face of overwhelming evidence we reverted back to what got us relegated and beaten in the Ulster final.
Think back to the first round of the league last year. We beat Dublin in Croke Park playing good open attacking football. Now throughout the league we realised we needed to shore things up at the back but instead of a tweak we completely changed tack and ended up worse off than where we started the previous year.
Does anyone really expect things to be much different next year?

So next year our aim is to be back where we were last year? That's some major ambition there.

We’ll know Monday night if he’s staying or going.
Hopefully all the club delegates vote in tune with what their club members want.

I couldn't give 2 f**ks what other counties do

Held out on voting before my trip over this summer. Everyone I spoke to is so passionately against McGeeney continuing. I have to go with their words of wisdom.
