there's very little talk on here or on social media about the Armagh All Star awards from saturday night, who ever runs the armagh twitter account & this forum needs to pull their fingers out!
That's the first negative comment aimed at us so thank you for that.

Just for your information we set this forum up for the use of everyone and we linked in the official county news feed. If there's nothing coming in from it, then there will be no news. We have personally funded this site and pay the monthly fees. We ask for nothing in return except that people join in and enjoy it. If you feel that something should be reported on, then you are free to do that. None of us were at the All Stars and I've no idea if you were, but if you were, surely you can get your finger out and let everyone know whatever is relevant. We keep an eye on posts, but prefer to take a back seat and let the members run it themselves. That is the fairest way we thought. Just disappointed that you feel it's our responsibility to do everything.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for not being more active

That would be a max of 12 county games a year assuming no break. Not sure that would work. Good idea in principle though

You could have a few double weekends, 2 games in a week or something.

But it is mad, the current set up. I mean, that's like 5 or 6 Man U or Liverpool players being dragged away from their clubs and constantly training with the England squad. And never being allowed to play for their clubs, who have to field a team with half their players missing.

Fully agree with that. The current situation can't go on surely. I know a club manager and it really pisses him off how little he can use his county players. Can't be good for the players either. What do other counties do?

Thank you for the offer. Appreciate it and we know from messages that others feel the same, but we are working on some targeted advertising to cover the costs and it was never going to be the case. This is for everyone to enjoy and share their love or vent their frustrations. Unlike the official forum that went before this one, it's not going to be dominated by rhetoric and promotion of the county line. We are open to information being shared from official sources, but that's as far as it will go. Our point is that we don't have the same connection nor information channels as the previous set up. I have spoken to Bainisteoir from the county site and asked him to sign up, but he said he's glad to have a break from it and is aware that this exists, but is just a little too busy to join in for now.

I gotta say guys, I don't get it. I thought the county had begun to build something land that last year was only the start

I make it
Jamie Clarke,James Morgan, Paul Hughes, Oisin O'neill, Ciaran O'Hanlon, Shea Heffron & Stefan Campbell who are now potentially making themselves unavailable. I can accept guys who want to travel (Morgan & O'Hanlon) and also can totally see through Shea Heffron wanting to concentrate on his studies this year but its frustrating as a supporter to see the rest

Surely if there are any new faces added to the panel nows the chance to send them out. It will keep them focused and hopefully let them see the level that's required to make the step up!

Yeah....he could be ripping it up and getting nothing for his efforts treking to the likes of Offaly and Westmeath. If The lad is getting a few pound for Lurgan and not being trained into the ground then fair dues to him.

My nephew is 15. He plays on the development squads and is on the minor training set up. They are on a pre-season S&C program. They were told to do it all in their own clubs if they have the facilities. Our club does. My brother in law got a call yesterday evening that they had to go to Armagh to do this. They are meeting up at least twice a week. He is doing exams for his GCSEs. He had no choice but to trek from Crossmaglen to Armagh in the snow last night for a weights session. That is wrong. They have no football till god knows when. There are reasons why young lads quit and the game is losing the run of itself. There is a much bigger world out there to be knocking your own in 5-6 times a week for nothing. It really is easy for managers to demand commitment when they are getting compensated financially, whoever is paying them. As an amateur sport we have lost the run of ourselves

I agree bcb1.

I think the drop off is linked to lads having to either give their lives to the game, or pack it in. A lot choose to pack it in, and I don't blame them.

A lot of lads know they'll never be county material or even make their clubs senior team. But many still want to enjoy playing the game. Turn up with mucky boots slung over their shoulder playing the game they love. Are we catering for such lads who just can't or won't train their holes off every night? Nope.

Maybe soccer or basketball allows them to do that. GAA doesn't.

Thats ridiculous. How much benefit is that going to be to him?
