Ulster Championship 2023

It’s hard to know how the game will go now. The furore surrounding RG has certainly taken away from the build up to what should be a big day for both clubs. Derry going for 2 in a row, us hopefully re-establishing ourselves as a winning county.

I think we line out as named but I actually think it would have been better having soupy as a sub. Jamar may be carrying an injury but I believe he is better starting than coming on. Some players cannot work as subs. I was that player, needed to be on from the start and had no issue coming off. I think Jemar is one of those players whereas Soupy absolutely can make a difference off the bench as he thrives in space which will always be there in the last 20 minutes. He and the likes of McQuillan, Nugent etc will add off the bench as they have pace and smarts.

It’s hard to know how it will go as the questions surrounding Derry’s buildup leave a lot of unknowns. We will just have to keep focused and if we do there is an Ulster to win. People may try to say any win has an asterisk but history will only show winners and losers and that’s all that matters.

It’s Armagh in a final for once not the club ;)

Agree with you re Jemar, think he is a big loss

Lads and lassies, I bought a ticket for Sunday without realising it’s also my wedding day! Does anyone want to go in my place?
It’s in St Malachy’s in Armagh followed by a lovely reception in the Carrickdale. The brides’ name is Michelle and she is absolutely gorgeous.
Now there’s a man committed to his county!

Shame he’s not as committed to his fiancée* :p

(* I use that term loosely)

Speaking of unsubstantiated stories. I heard from a very reliable source that @PatMustard was on the devil's juice last night and ventured into midgetland.

It is from there where he fell into Company with a certain Mr Mulligan and Mr Canavan. Long story short he is off on a 3 day fishing trip this weekend and has joined club Tyrone :eek:
That wasn’t Mulligan and Canavan. That was Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse (although they do look similar) and I was helping with the filming of their new fishing series. Took them up to the loughshore, but we was definitely on the Armagh side. But no drink was taken, as we’re all pioneers.

Anyway, I managed to get the lads two tickets for the match, so look out for them at Clones. They’ll be the ones wearing the waders.

It’s like Christmas, the day before the big occasion. Managed to get a ticket off a fine Derry Gael. Can’t wait for tomorrow. Hoping for a great day for all. That starting 15 of ours would send shivers down the spine, incredible team.! Let’s back it up , Ard Mhacha Abu

Paid a fiver for the minor match, Jesus our underage teams are poor, serious changes needed getting well beaten by Monaghan who in turn wouldn't get near a Derry or Tyrone, it's been a barren 5 years or so at underage

Other supporters will probably bring that up but it won't be an issue for us. We can only beat what's in front of us and celebrate the win if we get it. Old enough to remember plenty of what ifs on our part that could have cost us championships - injured stars, illnesses, red cards etc etc. None of which would have cost our opponents in those matches much thought.

We can only beat what is in front of us, but that wasn't very good. Cavan making hard work of beating Laois at present in the Tailteann cup, despite being at home. Now Laois used to be hard to beat, but now are one of poorest teams in the country.
Derry will be a big step up tomorrow.

Really looking forward to this tomorrow and aside from all the distractions, I've always felt we have a big chance here. The problem is, which Armagh will turn-up? If in a position of control, can we finally see out a major game?
We are well capable of winning this and boy would there be some feel good factor going into the AI series.
Good luck players, Kieran, Kieran, Ciaran and the rest of the squad!

Good luck to the Armagh team and management tomorrow!
Looking forward to seeing a sea of orange parading down Clones main street - we definately have some of the best supporters in the country.
If we play to our full potential, there is no reason why we can't win tomorrow - but as it stands I feel Derry have the slight edge based on their midfield.
Either way, it has all the ingredients to be an absolute classic!!

Well folks feeling very confident and surprisingly calm for tomorrow, could be the Valium that I’ve been taken , or maybe the fact that I’ve been in the Christmas drinks cabinet all week but I’m getting a good night sleep tonight and once I find a designated driver I’ll be ready for the road tomorrow, safe travels all . Hopefully it’s a great match as the championship needs it but if we win ugly I’ll take it . Good luck to all the lads especially the grange ones who never get a mention on the forum (hmmm) seriously we are fully behind you all . Ard Mhacha Abu .

Good luck to all the lads tomorrow. Looking forward to it! Hoping this time tomorrow we will still be stuck in traffic heading home, but wouldn’t care less if we won. Flags hanging out of windows, car horns dooting, buzzing love ulster finals. Mon Armagh
