ARMAGH RAN RIOT in their All-Ireland SFC second round qualifier in Carrick-on-Shannon.

The Orchard County, who started with the same team which disposed of Wicklow, began strongly in front of 4,371 at Sean McDermott Park and scored 1-2 before Leitrim got their first point of the day.

Armagh’s class in attack shone through early on and a second goal from Eugene McVerry plus one each from Kevin Dyas and Tony Kernan meant they held a 16-point advantage at the interval.

McVerry bagged his hat-trick soon after the restart while Jamie Clarke, who was superb throughout, found the back of the net twice as Paul Grimley’s men eased to victory.

They will discover who their opponents will be in the next round in Monday’s draw.

LEITRIM: C McCrann, F McMorrow, C Egan, S McWeeney, D Beck, G Reynolds, B Prior, D Sweeney, B Brennnan, P McGowan, J Glancy, P Brennan, A Croal, R Lowe, K Conlon.

ARMAGH: P McEvoy, P McKeown, B Donaghy, Js Morgan, A Kernan, C McKeever, M Shields, J Lavery, S Harold, C Rafferty, K Dyas, E Rafferty, J Clarke, T Kernan, E McVerry.

What? Really? Surely there was more than that? Most of Armagh was there that day.

Logic not always the GAA's strong point! On another note, what effect if any, with this venue have on the squad? Not played here before that I'm aware of. I would imagine the Armagh crowd will outnumber the Galway crowd 3 to 1 based on season ticket sales and Galway are not great travellers. I've never been to this ground before, just wondering is it a tight ground with the crowd up close etc... Breffni would have been nice for us as the lads have one under their belt already there. Might sound petty but the margins we have been winning and losing games by this year have been so fine, I will take anything that gives us any milimeter of help!
Last count Galway had 2.3k season ticket holders. Armagh will outnumber us but not by the margin you have predicted. In terms of the pitch it is tight enough. Our support better than last season and a good distance better than in the KW era. The other option was Sligo. Capacity is just north of 18k although only 3.5k seats. Tight pitch also. 3rd option would be Cavan and have Tyrone/Westmeath in Carrick or Sligo as both games have to have the same start time. I heard Armagh Galway may be on TV and that might reduce the crowd somewhat but still won't be enough space.

Tyrone vs Westmeath / Dublin vs Sligo tickets already released there this afternoon. Nothing mentioned yet for Armagh vs Galway, why am I not surprised

Tickets on sale now for all round 3 fixtures EXCEPT ARMAGH V GALWAY. Surely this highlights to the suits in HQ that this venue (capacity + road infrastructure etc) is totally unsuitable for this fixture. Looks like they don't want supporters attending matches.
Will County board show some leadership and make a statement/objection re this ridiculous decision? Is there any chance of change of venue??
Season tickets still not online. Lets hope the delay is due to the CB contesting the venue.
Perhaps the best way to pressure HQ would be for CB to go public as you suggest

Has the preliminary quarter finals been drawn ie if we finish 3rd we play 2nd from group X? And does 2nd place teams automatically get home advantage? See 2nd placed teams in the Tailteann cup have home advantage this weekend.

Open draw but they try to avoid a repeat of matches where teams have already played each other.
Yes 2nd placed team gets home advantage.

I’m thinking one of the CCCCCCCC members owns a few hotels in Carrick on Shannon. That’s the only explanation for it being played there.
Probably played there cause they want to give Leitrim a game like Crossmaglen wanting the odd Armagh game ya own what I'm saying

I have to say that my immediate reaction to seeing that team line up was surprise at how strong it was, or certainly a lot stronger than I remembered it!
